end up being just another invasion gone horribly wrong. The Watch follows four guys that form a neighborhood watch to get away from their boring daily lives. This seemingly unadventurous job takes a wild turn when they discover that the town is being invaded by aliens. Now, they must ban together to save their neighborhood and the world from extermination. What could have easily been an average comedy ended up being so much more thanks to the brilliantly executed dialogue by the cast. Everyone here really stepped up their game delivering some extremely hilarious moments that will keep you laughing throughout most of the film. Jonah Hill keeps getting stronger and throwing his off the wall character alongside Vaughn's quick wit delivery and Stiller's every man innocence just enhances it all that more. Richard Ayoade who isn't getting all that much of a push in the trailers due to being the lesser known of the bunch not only carries his own, manages to deliver some of the funniest lines. The story itself is pretty simple with a few twists here and there, but really relies on the chemistry between all the actors involved. This is a rated R comedy wrapped in a sci-fi buddy action film with just a touch of heart to make it have a bit more depth. A lot of times in these comedy sci-fi films, they go for the comedic look of the alien as well for laughs, but here they delivered a pretty cool alien and use mostly practical effects and the great Doug Jones to bring it alive. There is some CGI and it is only enhanced by the practical effects that seem to be getting used sparingly these days. This was way funnier than the trailers let on thanks to a smart cast that not only work well together, but seem to be having a great time while doing it. This is the clever sci-fi comedy mash that fans have been wanting and will surely please. If you're a fan of the genre, any or the entire cast then you have to go check this film out. Besides, it's not often these days you get such a fun clever movie that isn't a sequel, prequel, or remake.

I believe people took the film to seriously due to the great cast lined up and the fact that Ted was released the same time completely dominating this film, which is a shame because it really did deserve to do better. I'm not saying it's a five star golden globe nominee film but it sure as hell made me laugh and I would jump at the chance to watch it again! LOVE IT!

Schwarzenegger films because they have a silly plot, it's not about the plot, it's about hardcore action and silly punchlines, just like this movie is about funny conversations and a fun plot.

when I say this is a HARD R comedy. There were also more than a few twist in this film that really caught me off guard. Without spoiling anything, I will say that The Watch is one of the funniest movies you will see this year and I highly recommend it! If you thought Ted was funny, you ain't seen nothing yet!

performances are probably what made this film so funny. Vince Vaughn really surprised me as it's been a while since I've seen perform as well as he does here. Both he and Jonah Hill definitely give the best performances in the film. Jonah Hill is really funny here but he needs to be around the right crowd to be funny. Richard Ayoade gives a great performance here but I fear he will be type-cast into this role over and over again in the future. However, he does perform well and hopefully is seen in some more feature films. Ben Stiller unfortunately isn't fantastic here; he plays the average man here and is supposed to be the normal one amongst a group of odd ones. I don't know why he is put in roles like this because he is clearly capable of so much more.Overall, 'The Watch' is really funny and may signify the revival of Hollywood comedy that '21 Jump Street' hinted towards. I really hope more films as funny as this come out because this has shown that it is still possible to make hilarious pictures.
