goes to the past and then the second one goes to the future, HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2 kinda pays homage to that formula. If you're a big fan of the first film like me, then you'd remember all that snow resort plot in the '80s, well, because Lou Rob Corddry , Nick Craig Robinson , and Jacob Clark Duke messed with the past for their own benefit, the present sees Lou as the father of internet, Nick as the ultimate Grammy-winning artist, and Jacob as.. well,.. Jacob is Lou's butler, so that's part of this film's joke. Lou, as we all know, can be a bit of a dick and other times he's just straight up asshole, I guess one man has had about enough of Lou, so he shoots Lou in the dick during a party, which forces Nick and Jacob to fire up the hot tub time machine again and find whoever was trying to kill Lou. But instead of going to the past, they find themselves in the future and they encounter, Adam's son, Adam Jr., played by Adam Scott. Will you look at that, Adam plays Adam's son, Adam Jr. Anyways, where were we? Ah yes, this whole timeline has been altered in such a way that their future has become the key to solving the mystery of who shot Lou in the past a.k.a the present, according to the extremely nerdy Jacob.I believe director Steve Pink and screenwriter Josh Heald only mean to do one thing and one thing only through this franchise and that is to crack us up, successfully I might add. It's been five years since the first film, enough time for Heald to make sure that this is not going to be just a sequel rehashing the same thing with the same jokes, and you're going to like the result. There is a solid story in HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2, the kind that puts our three heroes, plus Adam Scott, to the test, not just their friendship but the way they look at their lives and what they've done with this time traveling powers they have in their hand. But despite the self-realization, the movie never goes astray from fun, fun, fun and ultimately, that's what will draw audiences to see this film and that's what they'll get, a blasting helluva good time at the theaters.Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson and Clark Duke are like this generation's the three amigos, the way they bounce insults off each other, the way they talk pop culture references like "Fringe" and "Terminator", HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2 keeps it coming, keeps it fresh, keeps it focused, keeps it funny from start to finish. than you can climb the hill that is the rambling, aimless plot. It is quite funny and the cast does a great job in delivering the dialogue. The dialogue is the focus, not the plot or the characters and in that effort it succeeds. Watch the movie but please do not watch it if you're in the mood for a deep character study supported by an intricate, responsible and thoughtful plot. I give it 10 stars for being what it was intended to be - A TIME TRAVEL COMEDY WITH CRUDE, SARCASTIC AND HILARIOUS dialogue delivered by funny people.

Cusack....kind of . I found this movie enjoyable. It had it's fair share of funny moments let's all remember that THIS is a comedy , and the characters we've come to know and love from the first movie are still the same. Adam Scott is the new 'addition', playing the son of Adam John Cusack and maybe this is where the film stalls a bit. Scott's character to me was a bit annoying, although in fairness he did have a couple of hilarious moments. Enjoy this for what it is. It works and it's funny. Don't compare it. Think Back to the Future and Back to the Future 2. One might have been better than the other, but they both worked. So does Hot Tub Time Machine 2. And if you're worried about John Cusack..don't be...you'll see.

idea whether it is in any way funny or amusing. It does not strike me as being necessary in the least, though. The Hot Tub Time Machine series would not appear to build upon previous movies in such a way that you need to view the first film to appreciate what goes on in the second. Recommended viewing for those who are not holy rollers.
