Arnold Truly Becomes an Actor with this Movie (by gauravhenry) |
I have grown up watching Arnold be the Barbarian, be a machine, be the strong man he has always been, but never ever did i feel that he would be able to touch my emotional chords. With Aftermath, he has done what the world did not think he was capable of. A truly gripping acting performance. The period of bereavement, the emotional imbalance, the true portrayal of a man hurt and saddened by events of life..what a great performance. I highly recommend this movie. Arnold you have done what no one expected you to do. |
Best Arnold acting ever. Oscar bound? (by celtic451-228-782719) |
I'm glad I ignored the haters and rented this movie, but I wasn't expecting high action and car chases either. This is a drama, a great drama at that, and most dramas aren't action movies and are a little slow paced compared to action movies. I have to say this is the best acting Arnold has ever done. I honestly think his performance is Oscar worthy. Also, all of the acting in this movie was excellent, even Christopher Darga some of you may remember him as the driver in the tennis episode of Seinfeld was great even though he had a small role in the movie, but he made the most of <more> |
Full credit to Arnie for a performance worthy of the masters (by MartianTom) |
It's a long time since I've posted an iMDB reviiew. But I felt I had to add something on this occasion to try to bring up the overall critical rating of this movie. It's clearly based on the Überlingen mid-air collision in 2002, when Bashkirian Airlines Flight 2937, a Tupolev Tu-154 passenger jet, and DHL Flight 611, a Boeing 757 cargo jet, collided in mid-air over Überlingen, a southern German town on Lake Constance.A year and a half after the crash, on 24 February 2004, Peter Nielsen, the air traffic controller on duty at the time of the collision, was murdered in an apparent <more> |
Arnold can be played by drama (by gergesean) |
Impressive performance from the one of the expendables. He still can capture the screen in other ways than breaking the walls, shooting big guns or punching everybody as an android or not. And he can really "talk" more than he says. He has sometimes the simplicity and sharpness in expression of an Anthony Hopkins from "Legends of the fall". Looking forward for the Arnie's next movies... |
This movie draws attention to real life conflict between culpability and the value of life. (by puma_heart) |
This movie is not a fast paced adventure story. It is a real life story about big business and its lack of common respect for the "little guy". The reason I rated it so highly is because of the honesty of this portrayal and the seeming hopelessness of loss, not just on the part of family members but also on the part of the air traffic controller.Corporate America has become so used to walking over the rights and humanity of others in the name of the almighty dollar with their legalese that it would rather bully, threaten , and mistreat the employees and the victims than say the two <more> |
Who'd have thought it? (by andymcrowe) |
...but this is a sensitive, emotional and very well acted and directed film starring Arnold Schwartzenegger. After watching it I wondered why the IMDb score was relatively low at 5.9. It seems that the reviews are split down the middle between those like me who were pleasantly surprised and those who expected and can't get their heads around the fact that Arnie can play such a good, multi faceted role. SPOILER : My one criticism is that and I may have missed it the film makes no reference to the findings of the Inquiry into the air crash and the role played by the air traffic controller. |
Possibly Schwarzeneggers Best Performance (by slightlymad22) |
Arnie is back in possibly the best performance of his career.Plot In A Paragraph: Two strangers' lives become inextricably bound together after a devastating plane crash.I really enjoyed it. I'd go so far as to say it's safe as to say it's the best Arnie led movie since his return for politics. It's certainly his best performance. It's a performance lots of people doubted he had in him. I love the big guy, but I've often thought he never really had any acting talent, and he got by on his charisma and surrounding himself with top talented directors. I think it says <more> |
One of Arnold's Best performances of his acting career (by stephenw-30180) |
I've read the other reviews and they range in numerical rating from 1/10 to 10/10. Does that say a lot about the Film itself, or the people reviewing the film? I say with confidence, the latter.First, I understand people from around the globe use IMDb as it's the premier Movie information sight available on the net. However, please, if your going to write a review which the public will read to gauge whether or not to view a film, learn how to write with correct and coherent grammatical form. Much is lost if an opinion of the author does not know how to formulate a sentence....now that <more> |
Arnold Schwarzenegger performs well outside of action too. (by stefan-526-296130) |
Don't expect any Terminators jumping around in this movie. The plot is somewhat new, and not a used up scenario you find in every second movie. It's a movie that goes a bit deeper than the usual special effects movies these days.I did not find this movie boring as some stated, it got a slow pace but well thought. The characters need to breathe to send their message out.So if you want pure action, stay away from it, if you like movies that bring their message with acting, go for it. Arnold Schwarzenegger is talking with his whole body, that's what I prefer to overextended <more> |
